Nudgee International College

This is our first day of arrival to Brisben, Australia. Even we are tired, they do not want to take a rest and there's so much things to do after it. Students had their placement tests. They had to write an essay introducing Taiwan. I think all of them did a pretty good job.

In the afternoon, Berry were introducing us about Nudgee campus. It is the largest campus in all of Australia. The campus is huge and there's tennis court, swimming pool, golf clubs, running area, football field, beautiful and huge church and more. It is quite a lot to see over here. The doorms are so great with beautiful buildings.

Nudgee is well known junior and high school. They have total of 1,500 students, 500 students live in the doorms and the others come to school everyday. The year round tuition is $12,000 Euro. It is extremely expensive here compared studnts at Sheng-Kung Girls high school.

Meeting My Homestay Family

Each students will have their homestays. It is time for us to meet our homestay parents and the place to stay for three weeks. Stephen came to pick up, we met him at the Nudgee College. Berry introduced to him and he was ready to drop us to his house. After arriving to his house, his cousin Leomi was there. She just came from Syndney, Australia to visit them. At that time, we did not meet Barbara, Stephen wife because she had to work that evening.

My homestay is only one floor home very modern house from outside and very nice and clean from inside. It has a bathroom, divingroom, livingroom, four bedrooms and kitchen. It is the house of my dream, but in Tainan, Taiwan is hard to find houses like that. My room has everything that I need, I have a desk and a very soft bed to sleep. I am very happy with my place of stay.

Stephen prepared our dinner. It was great. Vicky is a vegetarian and he had a vegetarian food for her. I was so tired but it was nice to know that the place I am staying is clean and pleasant. I had a great dinner and it was time for me to take shower and go to bed.

I'm In Australia

I cannot believe, after 9 hours of plane, finally we arrived to Australia, Brisbane. Australia is a big island called Queensland. I am so excited and having a lot of fun. I just arrived today at 8:00 A.M. The airport guard made us a lot of problems because we brought instant noodles. Next time, we learned our lesson and we know now how to deal with the guards next time.

It was very tirering trip and I could not sleep on the plane all the time. We left Taiwan on June 29th and we arrived today June 30th, 2006 in the morning. Berry the school coordinator for the study tour group came to pick us at the airport. He is very nice, kind and friendly.

After arriving to the Nudgee International College, he gave us snake and after that students need to take a placement tests. After taking their tests, we went to the little short school history tour. Lunch time came and we had very and quick lunch which was instant noodles from Taiwan.

After quick and easy lunch, we went to the school long tour. It was fun and I saw a lot of beautiful buildings. After the trou, Berry told us the importance of school schedule and other school policies.

After all these were finished, students had their free time while we were waiting for the homestay family to come and pick up each of us.

It is very tirering day today but exciting.

Arriving to Brisbane, Australia

After 9 hours of trip from Tainan to Brisbane, finally we arrived to Brisbane, Australia. Unfortunately, I could not sleep on the plane. Now I feel sleeping and I am so tired. We have to pass the immigration and get out luggages. Now it is the time for us to leave the luggage picking area to the outside world. Berry from Nudgee International College is waiting for us over there. The driver Glan came also to pick up us, too.

We had a lot of problems with immigration because the travel agency did everything for us and we supposed to have to do the all the forms by ourselves. We got so many problem with that. I was in the immigration counter for 20 minutes. It is so ridicules. Now, I know next time what I have to do next time.

We all arrived safely to Brisbane and all students have their own luggages, too. Berry was outside and waiting for us to pick up to the College. We are so excited to see Brisbane.

The day of Departure to Brisbene

Today we are going to Brisbene. The principal wants to meet us this morning at 10 A.M. This morning our school has the closure ceremony for the accademic year. Everything turned perfect. I never see the closure ceremony for the school year before. It was my first time. Een in America, we do not do the closure ceremony for the school year. We just finish grading the exams and give grades to the office. It is very simple.

After the closure ceremony, I went to wash my hair to be ready to meet the principal. The lady at hair saloon washed my hair really fast and I was on time to be able to go to the principal's office.

Everybody are there and we are on time. The principal prepare presents for each group to give to the Australian Study Tour Principals. She prepared very expensive gifts for each group. Also, Camille prepared her own gift to each of them too. We have to be very carefully to bring these presents for them.

At 11:15 I was ready to go home, but first, I want to stop at Alan's school and see him before my departure. It was nice to see him. He gave me hugs and kisses. He told me that he is going to miss me.

I went home around 12 something. I ate and I slept a little bit before I picked up Vivky. David came home too. He had lunch with me and he took a nap too. We are ready to go to the park and meet Vicky.

Departure To Australia, Brisbane

Today, we are going to departure to Brisbane. We are going to meet at the park closer to Sheng-Kung. I went to pick up Vicky, my partner of Brisbane trip. We arrived together at the park and we settle down the students and give them the red ribbon to put on the top of their luggages that way will be easy to recognize our group's luggages. Alan, my son came to say goodbye to me. He was so cute and he told me to take care of myself.

Getting our group together at 3:30 P.M. and we all are waiting for the bus and we went to the airport. We left the bus, the teacher started to check the seats. If you did not check anything, one student forget her camera over there.

The bus driver left us into the national login area. At that moment, we had to transfer into the international login area. After we all are checked in, it is the time for us to go inside and take our plane. But before that we stopped at the coffee shop because some students got very hungry.

During buying drinks and buying foods, one student got lost her passport. We are so afraid, and shocked, we do not know what to do at that time, we just went and find at the different seats we were at that time. Luckily, we found the passport, it was one big stone left in my heart.

Before we get into the plane, I collected all the students' passport. Now, it is the time for us to get into the plane. Everything it seems ok and students are so happy and calm now. Now, we as teachers can take a little bit of rest.

We had to transfer out plane in Taipei. That was the easiest part and we took the another plane to Brisbane. We will need 8 hours for the trip. All students are tired and they are all sleeping. We teachers, need some sleep, too. I decided to watch some movies before I go to sleep on the plane.

Give the Group Uniforms

Today in the eighth period, we gave them the group's uniform. It is yellow the entire T-shirt. They will wear it to Australia. I am really hopping that all the stduents will be fine going and comming back. I am so excited, but first I need to finish what I have to do first. I also have to settle my son to my in-laws and go to Australia safety.

Teacher's Thought!

Today my Junior One and Two students finished my exam. Tonight when I was grading their exam, it turned out bad grades. I thought I made the easiest test for them but.. no way. For them still difficult and some of them did not even answer some of the parts. I do not know what to do is the best for stduents to get higher grades. I am hopping that in the future, we will still make the easiest test and students will say, teacher you made the easiest test, since then, I iwll be happy.

Busy Busy!!

I am so busy in these days, the final exam week is already here. I have only two days to grade exams and give grades to students. Thursday of this week, I will departure to Australia. We have to come to school on thursday and departure in the afternoon. We will be tirering. Some students won't be at school, I will see them in the afternoon when we take bus to Kao-Shion airport. I am so excited but at the same time very tired. I will miss my cute son, Alan.

3D Puzzle

I bought 3 D puzzle for Alan. It is a little heliecopter and it turned that I did the puzzle for him. I really like to put all the pieces together. It was kind of wasting time but I just did it for fun. After I finished it, it was amazing. The puzzle turned out so real. I finished the puzzle before I go to Brisbane, Australia.

The Car Of My Dreams

I want two cars in my life: 4 by 4 and sport car. I have to work really hard to buy these two cars. The cars I want is not cheap. They are very expensive, even I work harder in my entire life, I still cannot buy them. I will just dreams these two cars when I go to sleep.

Ecuador Won

This is the first time in the Eciadorian's history that Ecuador won twice at the World Cup. I remembered when I was little, I always see Ecuador never get into the semi finals not even into the World Cup. Now that I became a teacher, Ecuador broke its won records. Ecuador has very good players now. I am so proud of Ecuador because that is the country where I grew up and I was there for 12 years. Go Ecaudor, Go!

Final Exam Week

Alan is having is last week of exam. He has done school at 10 A.M. after that Alan is staying at school but his teacher from school doesn't know how to prepared them for the test. I have to teach and after comming back home, I am so tired already, I wish that Alan could studied at school, but nothing. I do not know what his teacher is doing. She doesn't prepare her students for a test. All cram schools in Taiwan, prepared thier students for a test, this is the only private school in Taiwan which did not prapred their students for a test.

Today, I woke up Alan at 5 A.M. to study for his science test. He must know how to spell the words and how to understand questions. It was so hard to train him this morning because he felt sleeping. I told him that if he did not do well on the tests, he cannot enter to my house. I have to be very strict with my son, otherwise, he is not even study or care for his studies even for his scores. I want him to become somebody very important in the future and have a good job. Also, I want him to like school and his homework.

This morning, on the way to school , Alan was sleeping. He is very tired. Private schools in Taiwan are very strick but the cram school at the private schools are not very very good. I am just hopping that Alan can do well all his tests today and tomorrow. We will see what will happen after his tests.

Tommy Hilfiger at Oprah's Show

I am sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey show in Chicago where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. The statements like "if I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they (my clothes) are made for upper-class white people." His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES" where after she immediately asked him to leave her show.

Suggestion?
Don't buy your next shirt or perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes. If we are small, then send it to the whole community that's not white people and see the result. We! have to see the result of unity. Let's find out if Asian, Jews and Non-white really plays such a small part in the world. Stop buying all range of Hilfiger products, perfume, cosmetics, Clothes, bags, etc.

A scene also took place on a BA (British Airway) flight between Johannesburg and London. A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter?" the hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it then?" She responded. "You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available." The hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later.

"Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is one seat in the business class. All the same, we also have one seat in the first class." Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: "It is unusual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."

She then turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class." At the moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded. This is a true story. IF you are against racism, please send this message to all your friends; please do not delete it without sending it to at least one person.

Last Week Of 導護老師 Of The School Year

Today, I start again to be a teacher patrol (導護老師). this week is a little bit harder because it is raining all day long. Standing outside is not very good. Of course compared to the hot and sunny day, the rainig day is much better, it is fresh and windy.

I supposed to start on Friday, because of graduation ceremony at our school, I did not start to be a teacher patrol until today. I am glad that the school did not ask us to be teacher patrols on Friday. The weather was horrible, it was windy and it was raining cats and dogs. It was horrible. The streets were like rivers, it was hard to drive to everywhere. I am glad this week is a good week to be a teacher patrol even it is a little bit of rain.

Coca-Cola

Do market corrections go better with Coke?, ya this was the title that I red this morning. It took my interest and spend a few minutes reading the headlines and after the content. This article from MSN Money about Coca-Cola is quiet interesting. According to By Michael Brush, is not only the author of this article but also he is the author of the book "Lessons From the Front Line," a book offering insights on investing and the markets based on the experiences of professional money managers.

According to Brush, "Recent evidence says yes. Stocks are down about 5% since early May, but Coca-Cola (KO, news, msgs) shares have held steady. Why? For the same reasons Coca-Cola shares could rise more than 20% to $54 over the next year or two."

I think Coca-Cola knows what to expect in thier markets. Coca-Cola has its market in over 200 countries in the world. It is quiet amazing, not all the companies can do it. Even Taiwanese cokes cannot spread over 200 countries.

Coca-Cola has tries so many flovours and people like all the flovours. The new Coca-Cola Blak, a blend of Coke and coffee, represents a foray into the premium coffee craze dominated by Starbucks (SBUX, news, msgs), said Brush. Coca-Cola has tried variations on old classics like the diet drinks Coca-Cola Zero and Diet Coke Sweetened with Splenda.

According to Keving Miller, director of marketing at Old Orchard Brands, the No. 2 brand in frozen juice concentrate after Coca-Cola's own Minute Maid, "Coke continues to reinvent existing products," also he thinks, "I think they are the victim of their own success."

After reading this article, I remember one of my coworkers loves Coca-Cola, she cannot even live without it. For people I love, I share this article with you and hopping you will read more carefully about it.

Nissan Tida

David, Alan and I went out for dinner. After eating, we went to see Nissan's new car, Tida. Tida is another kind of Nissan Sentra, it is higer level of Sentra. The structure from outside, for me Nissan Sentra is prettier than Tida. The structure from inside, Tida is bigger and wider than Sentra. Of course, every cars has positive and negative side.

New cars always look good with new high technology. Tida is not too bad, its has better bottons and automatic key control. What is automatic key control? This means, if the driver forgot his or her keys, he or she can still drive a car, the driver just need the contro remote. Also, if the driver doesn't know very well the directions, there's an electronic map and the computer will tell you where to turn and when to turn. It is very convenient for ladies who always got lost, like me.

A lot of people went to Nissan's company to see his new car. Just today, Tida is at the market in Taiwan, you can try the car and you can choose the color you want. The most important thing is this car is made in Taiwan.

Raining Storm

In Taiwan, this month is a horrible month for everyone. Two weeks ago, we did not see the sun anymore in Tainan area. Many streets in Tainan area are like river. Last night, during the graduation day, it was raining like cats and dogs. It was horrible, the sky was dark and the the temperature was ok not too cold not too hot. Everyone got wet. I am hopping that the weather will get better, otherwise I cannot a good smell on my laundry.

My grandmom's new house has an elevator on it. Alan likes to go over there but the problem is my grandmom likes to be quiet, she doesn't like people making any sound in her house. When Alan wants to play, my granmom will be very stressful. he just watch TV or do his homework.

Thank You Teacher's Feast (謝師宴)

After a busy and tired day, all the school teachers will have dinner at Splendid Restaurant (漂亮餐廳) in Tainan. The food of this restaurant is so good, they have all the dishes that you cannot eat in other places. Each table costs $12,000 NT this is equal to $369.971 USD. In Taiwan this is more than great food. I really enjoyed eating over there.

Each dish is really fine and well cooked. I really like to see the finest food and the taste is so good. Also, I enjoyed the decoration of the food, too.

Here are more pictures of each food

European Restaurant (好樣)

My husband's house in Taipei is just close to the famous Taiwanese UDN newspaper company (聯合報). He lived there for more than 20 years and he did not know that there's a good European restaurant around to his house. The restuarant is VVG Bistro (好樣), this restaurant serves from breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a small resturant with 60 tables total. Expedition Everest

I always got e-mail from everywhere and this e-mail from Disney Insite impacted me. The following is the article, it is originally from Disney Inside.

It not every day that a new mountain arises in the enchanted lands of the Disney parks it not even every year! So the long-awaited official opening of Expedition Everest at Disney Animal Kingdom theme park on April 7 was a rare event, and one that Disney celebrated in grand style. Expedition Everest was welcomed by gala parties, a slew of celebs, and honors paid to conservation heroes a fitting acknowledgment of the message of respect and care for the natural world that is an integral part of Disney Animal Kingdom theme park, and of Expedition Everest itself.

Expedition Everest the very name spells excitement, and the attraction certainly delivers! Guests board a mountain train for a trek into the Himalayas in search of adventure but get more than they bargained for as the train careens in a runaway course along broken tracks toward an unknown fate perhaps even an encounter with the Legendary yeti itself. The attraction combines a thrilling story, the very latest in thrill-ride technology, and a message of respect for the natural world. On April 6, the day before the opening ceremonies, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park celebrated with festivities throughout the Park. Sherpas and mountain climbers mingled among them were the sons of Sir Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first real-life conquerors of Mount Everest.

Uh-oh, what's up with the track? This could get exciting!
A Festival of the Yeti rocked the Park with live music, entertainment, and plenty of celebs (including Disney Channel stars) late in the evening, which concluded with spectacular fireworks.
The next afternoon luminaries including Disney CEO Bob Iger, Olympic gold medalist, Hannah Teeter, and Animal Planet Jeff Corwin were on hand for the ribbon-cutting, and the first train to careen through the icy landscape of Expedition Everest carried some familiar faces: a galaxy of stars, including the cast of Disney High School Musical.?After that first car, Guests were free to queue up for their own encounter with the fabled yeti, who lurks in the brand-new attraction. It all added up to a wowzer of a party. But perhaps the most meaningful event was one that honored some real-life adventurers who have worked tirelessly to save the world wild places.

On April 6, Disney Conservation Legacy Celebration took place in Disney Animal Kingdom, to celebrate the milestone of $10 million donated by Disney Animal Kingdom Guests to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund. The DWCF was established in 1995 as a global awards program for the study and protection of the world's wildlife and ecosystems. It provides annual awards to US nonprofit conservation organizations working alongside their peers in other countries. Present were five honorees:

Jane Goodall, creator of the Jane Goodall Institute to foster youth leadership in compassion for the environment, and renowned primatologist. Iain Douglas Hamilton, of Save the Elephants, who works in Kenya to protect the world largest land mammals and to develop a new generation of young scientists. Wangari Maathai, a Nobel Prize winner for her grassroots efforts to mobilize women to create greenbelts across Africa. Isabella Rossellini, champion of animal concerns, who serves on the boards of numerous conservation foundations. John Cleese, who became involved in animal conservation after hosting a wildlife documentary. He is the founder of the Conservation Matters Foundation and works with the World Parrot Trust and the American Zoo Association.

According to Kim Sams, manager of the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, the event was a perfect expression of what Expedition Everest, and the Park, are all about. Really it a natural extension of the messages throughout Disney Animal Kingdom. Everest has taken this to a new level by examining and supporting conservation issues facing a region, the Himalayas, and utilizing Disney resources and partnerships with Conservation International to address these issues.

Leave it to Disney Animal Kingdom to host a grand opening bash that truly wild, in every sense of the word. From the joyful screams of Guests plunging along the broken tracks of the mountain railway, to the conservation work made possible by the generosity of Guests who give to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, the World just keeps getting better.

CARLA Summer Institute

The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) is one of the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI National Language Resource Centers, whose role is to improve the nation's capacity to teach and learn foreign languages effectively. (CARLA)

Also, it is an institution for ESL teachers who wants to improve or share their teaching styles. Every year all people from all oer the places go over to Minnesota, St. Paul. It is held by the University of Minnesota. They have three kinds of programs: research and program, professional development and resources. I am going to attend professional development for teachers. This program offeres only summer and it will have a lot of semminars and conferences.

I heard nice programs over there. This summer it is too late for me to get registered, but next summer, Iwill register a little bit earlier and I will go over there and get some knowledgeof teaching and how to improve my own teaching, too.

I am so excited too because Alan can go with me and he can attend Montessory School. I really like Montessory School, Alan strted over there with non-English and now his English is pretty good, thank you for wonderful teachers over there. I am planning ot get Alan into summer program next year. For this, I need ot talk to Rebecca, the principal of the school.

Alan Misses Andrew!

Andrew is not only Alan Talahi's classmate but also he is Alan's buddy for karate. They both go together to karate and they both have nice chat over there. It is nice to see both of them playing together and be good friends. Since we came back to Taiwan, we did not see Andrew anymore. One day we tried to called him, but his phone number seems won't work anymore. We try to reach Andrew, I send e-mail to Andrew's mom many times and there's no reply. Today I tried again and I am hopping she will reply to me. I am also hopping that Alan can talk to his friend on the phone.

You have the tools to stay ahead of the competition. Anywhere, anytime, you can print, e-mail, post, or fax your resume. Your resume can be sent electronically to anywhere on the Planet.

2: Test Yourself
Q: How do I know if I need to have my resume professionally written?
A: Test your knowledge of Job Market & Industry Specific Realities. Job market realities and industry-specific dynamics change constantly and affect your job search results. Most people are unaware of current job market realities that often dictate different resume strategies for format, resume heading sequence, length, keywords and sentence structure. Our resume writers are all skilled writing professionals and proofreaders with industry-specific knowledge, who can rapidly produce a winning resume for you. They're effective writers who understand different resume formats and know current job market realities. They will give your resume the professional look and edge your career deserves.

3: Write A Concise Resume
Q: I have updated my resume over the years and now it is five pages long. Is this too long?
A: Your resume should be 1 to 2 pages long, depending on your experience. Nobody wants to read a novel of your job experience. Since employers only give your resume less than a minute, you must make your best case in a quick and easy manner. Use your resume as a tool to get your foot in the door, then you can expand on your positive attributes in the interview as a result of your concise, yet impressive resume.

4: Stay Organized
Q: I customize my resume for each position I pursue. Now I have multiple versions of my resume and can no longer keep track of what version I've sent to which company. How do I get and stay organized.
A: Customizing and targeting your resume for each position increases your chances of getting that important interview. The problem is keeping track of all your job search activity and which resume version was submitted to which company, to whom and when. Our software keeps track of multiple resume versions and tracks all your job search activity automatically. You can even schedule the system to alert you to follow up after you submit the resume.

I can be a teacher today is because she was there to encourageme and supports me economically. I really appreciate my grandma for everything that she has done for me.

Long Night Tonight

Today will be a long night. Alan will have his math test tomorrow, we need to study a lot. Tests are painful sometimes and it can cause people angry, but if a child did not study hard, the child will fail. I do not want my son failing in his exams. I want him to do well like I do well in college. I really worked hard for my college life and my masters. Now I wish I can go for a PhD program. Getting PhD is my dream now.

I Am Tiring In These Days

I do not know what happen with me. I am so tired since Tuesday. On Wenesday, I had a short vacation and I slept almost all day long. Today, Thursday, after eight hours of teaching, I am still tiring. My body condition in these days are not very good. I work so hard... I do not know what I work. I really do not enjoy my life as I suppose to do... Everything now is just my son and my job. These two things now in my life are very important. Why I cannot be like others take a long vacation and spend money outside of Taiwan? I do not know why... Even I could go for a vacation, but I do not want to touch my money, he he...
