趙老師說：妳們什麼都可以沒聽進去，請一定記得 "勿再使用衛生筷"了，
因為大陸進來的免洗筷(現在幾乎皆是大陸進口的) ，
製作過程材料本身已經長滿了長長的五顏六色黴菌，處理過程是一道防腐劑，
一道漂白劑(皆超過標準劑量的幾千倍)等等，都是致癌 carcinogen的，
趙老師(自從參觀過製筷工廠)已經5年未用免洗筷，為免忘了帶家用筷子，
她每一個包包都放一雙，更何況，可以洗過重複使用的才環保呀。
趙可式博士又說：如果你以前到現在每天用免洗筷吃飯，未來還是如此，
有一天被診斷為癌症時，請不用再問------為什麼是我？

Summer School Almost End!

I cannot imagine, this is Sheng-Kung's 5th week of summer school. It will be ended at end of this week. Bothe teachers and students must work hard for the new school year.

On Monday August 27th, we will have a inaguration of the new school start. Principals, teachers, and students will be there. In the morning, I have a workshop wt my school, the inaguration will start in the afternoon at 1 P.M.

I am so excited and worried at the same time. I do not know if I could do a great job this year. I have to prepare so much teaching materials for my English and Spanish classes, too. Also, after school, I have to wait for Alan until 7 P.M. to be able to pick him up and go home. I will be more than busier.

Summer is almost come to the end. Students did a great job doing what I am asked them to do. I am very proud of my students. I really like them all.

Alan's Summer Homework

Alan has the duty to finish his summer homework today. He is going start third grade tomorrow. Most of the schools in Taiwan will start a new school year tomorrow. However, some of the schools started already this Monday.

Alan is so excited that he could see his friends at school. I am so happy for him that he likes school. Most of children do not like school. I am worry about him because he is going to have school from 7:50 A.M. to 7 P.M. whole day long. He will be tired after that.

In Taiwan, all teachers will give summer homework to students because they want them to keep up with their language. Once they do not write or read in Chinese, they will forget, and teachers will need to reteach them. I can imagine in a class of 50 students, that will be a lot of work. Parents expect teachers teach better to their students.

This situation compared to United States of America, children will have happy, playing summer vacation and no homework at all. I want my son to have happy child memory, but not a lot of study.

Chinese Valentine's Day

After a week in Taipei, David will come back tonight. It is also the day of Chinese valentine's day, here is the story:

Chinese Valentine's Day is on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month in the Chinese calendar. A love story for this day is about the 7th daughter of Emperor of Heaven and an orphaned cowherd. The Emperor separated them. The 7th daughter was forced to move to the star Vega and the cowherd moved to the star Altair. They are allowed to meet only once a year on the day of 7th day of 7th lunar month.

The story began from the good-looking poor orphaned boy living with his elder brother and sister-in-law. After his parents past away, his brother inherited the house and the land. The boy owned an old ox. He needed to work on the farm's field with the ox everyday. So he was called a cowherd. His daily life was just like in a Cinderella story.

The 7th daughter of Emperor is good at handcrafting, especially weaving clothing. So she was called a Weaving Maid. The Emperor likes her skill to weave clouds and rainbows to beautify the world.

The ox was actually an immortal from the Heaven. He made mistakes in the Heaven and was punished as an ox in the Earth. One day, the ox suddenly said to the cowherd, "You are a nice person. If you want to get married, go to the brook and your wish will be come true." The cowherd went to the brook and saw all 7 pretty daughters of Emperor came down from Heaven and took a bath in there. Fascinated by the youngest and also the most beautiful one, he took away her fairy clothes secretly. The other six fairies went away after bath.

The youngest couldn't fly back without her fairy clothes. Then the cowherd appeared and told her that he would not return her clothes unless she promised to be his wife. After a little hesitation and with a mixture of shyness and eagerness, she agreed to the request from this handsome man. So they married and had two children two years later.

One day, the old ox was dying and told the cowherd that he should keep his hide for emergency purpose.

The Emperor found the sky's not that beautiful as before without the 7th daughter weaving clouds and rainbows. He wanted his daughter's grandmother to find the missing daughter and to bring her back. . While the 7th princess was flying to the Heaven with her grandmother, the cowboy wore the ox hide, took his children in two bamboo baskets with his wife's old fairy clothes and chased after his wife in the sky. The grandmother made a milky way in the sky with her hairpin, which kept them separated.

The 7th princess was moved to the star Vega (The swooping - Eagle) in the Lyra (Harp) constellation. And the cowherd with his two children stayed in the star Altair (Flying one) in the Aquila (Eagle) constellation. The star of Vega is also known as the Weaving Maid Star and the star of Altair is as the Cowherd Star in China.

Magpies were moved by their true love and many of them gathered and formed a bridge for the couple to meet in the evening of the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, which is the day the Emperor allowed them to meet once a year.

They said that it's hard to find a magpie on Chinese Valentine's Day in China, because all magpies fly to make the bridge for the Weaving Maid and Cowherd. The one thing to prove that is the feathers on the head of the magpies are much lesser after the Chinese Valentine's Day. If the night Chinese Valentine's Day rains, the rain are the tears of the Weaving Maid and Cowherd.

3R3H Breakfast

In the middle of windy and raining, I woke up this morning and I want to have a big breakfast. I felt to have breakfast at 3R3H. I went to search on the Internet and see if it is open today in typhoon day. I did all the house work and run right away to buy breakfast for Alan and me. Not everyday we can stay at home and watch T.V. or relax. This is happening only in typhoon days. After I came back from 3R3H, I made scrambled eggs for Alan and gave him a glass of milk, too.

Typhoon is Comming!

After pouring for 4 days, finally we could see in the sky and the typhoon will come tomorrow. A new typhoon is coming? but we just had big shower for 4 days already. According to the news, this typhoon is very strong. In Chinese it is called (聖帕). Its speed is 250 miles per hour. If it continues raining, my house will be very humid. All the houses in Taiwan are very humid, no matter where are you. Hopefully, typhoon will go today and we can have sunny days again.

Bad Santa

I saw this movie with Alan. I di dnot like the movie because there's a lot of bad words. The plot I also did not like it, but at the end of the movie, santa, learned the lesson and he became good person.

Nela's Lasagna

This morning, before typhoon arrived to my city, I went to buy a backing pan to make lasagna. The pan that I want is too expensive. but anyways, I needed for my backing. It is hard to find backing pans here in Taiwan. the problem is we do not have big ovens, like the stove in America. All the ovens we have at the stores is the size of a toast.

I have everything ready, vegetables, noodles, sauce, meat, shrimps and sausage. I started to cook noodles, it did not turn out okay. I took another package of noodles and I know how to cook them now.

I cook all the vegetables and shrimp together with a sauce. Everything is cooked and looks good. I started to laid out the first layer with cheese. Alan was curious, he came to help out, too. However, the more he helped m, the busier I became.

Everything was ready to bake, I put it into the oven at maximun for 30 minutes or so. After 30 minutes both of us were hungry. It is time for us to eat my delicious lasagna. I made it for the first time. I am so proud of myself. I cannot wait to show it to David.

No Reservations

Alan and I went to see the movie last week and we show the trailer of the movie, "No Reservations." We both like this movie and we would like to see the real movie at home.

Undersea Restaurant

The Maldives,15th of April marks the day that the first ever all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors for business at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa.

Ithaa will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views."We have used aquarium technology to put diners face-to-face with the stunning underwater environment of the Maldives", says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. "Our guests always comment on being blown away by the colour, clarity, and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it seemed the perfect idea to build a restaurant where diners can experience fine cuisine and take time to enjoy the views without ever getting their feet wet."

The restaurant is created by MJ Murphy Ltd, a design consultancy based in New Zealand, Ithaa's distinctive feature is the use of curved transparent acrylic walls and roof, similar to those used in aquarium attractions. "The fact that the entire restaurant except for the floor is made of clear acrylic makes this unique in the world," continues Schieck, "We are currently planting a coral garden on the reef to add to the spectacular views of the rays, sharks and many colourful fish that live around the ocean.

The restaurant is 9m long that is made up of three 5 metre transparent arches made from acrylic 125mm thick and sits under a couple of metres of water at high tide. Also, The restaurant's total weight when it was lowered into the sea was 175 tons and 85 more tons of sand have been placed inside the belly of the structure to sink it into the sea.

The cuisine is more of western food items with a Maldivian flavor, the wine concept is equally exciting, offering diners the perfect opportunity to discover the wines of the prestigious Champagne house Louis Roederer.

Ithaa is reached by a wooden walkway from the nearby over-water Sunset Grill Restaurant. Diners begin their meal with drinks on a specially constructed deck over the ocean and then descend to the restaurant via a spiral staircase where the a la carte menu is served. Seating only 14 people, Ithaa offers one of the most intimate and exclusive dining experiences in the world.

It costs $ 5 millions to built this resturant. The cost of each meal, per person will be between $187 to $22o. I would like to go there one day. I would like to experience eating under the sea and the great animals surounded by me.

Teeth

Alan is really sick today he did not have any voice to speak. While he was brushing h is teeth, the side tooth fall down. He was bleeding so bad, but the part, he did not cry. He is a very strong baby. I am very proud of my baby now.

Raining Whole Day Long!

Now in Taiwan, it has been raining for two days now. The rain is like downpour. Everyday weather is like this is not so good. I cannot take my laundry outside. According to the news, it will be raining until Wednesday. I cannot believe it will be raining for that long.

Alan and Fever!

Alan has fever all night. I could not even sleep. In a few hours, I have to go to work. I have to bring Alan with me tomorrow to school. He is really sick. I do not know what is wrong with medicine. The doctor did not give him the right medicine. He still has fever...

Zathura

Zathura (迷走星球) is a movie about two brothers who are playing mysterious game but unknown, they were ending up in the dark, empty space.

Fun with Dick and Jane

Alan and I were watching the movie and there's a trailer from years ago, "Fun with Dick and Jane." We all both laughed when we saw the trailer. We decided to go and buy the VCD or DVD to be able to see it at home.

Cats-Musical

I have never seen costumes musical like this.This is a great musical for teenagers. My students will like it. This show was great from make -up to clothing and dance, more than that their songs is more than great. The background scenary is so great, everything fits with their performance. I think this is a great opportunity to buy the DVD and show to my kids.

The King of the Dance

When my son, Alan was very little, I put him into a tap dance class. He was only two ears old at that time. Every time when I drop him to the tap dance class, what he did was crying and crying. The reason why he cried was because he was the only boy in the class. unlucky me, I did not have baby girl, I got baby boy. I want my baby learn many things as possible.

When I saw this tap dance video on the Youtube, I really like it. this group of dancers were so great. They performed a great tap dance. Everyone in the group was well uniformed. I wish y Alan could dance like that but he did not like it. he just want to play with toys.

Alan is Sick!

I do not know what is happening, Alan is really sick. Tonight I could not sleep, I brought him to the doctor, Alan has fever. He reached to 37 degree. It is really high for Alan. During the midnight, He was fever twice. I was so scared. I gave him medicine. I am hopping tomorrow he will be much better.

I'm so busy in These Days

It is summer school already at Shen-Kung's High School. I have to prepare teaching materials for the new semester. The new semester will start at end of this month (Aug. 27th). The summer program is five weeks program only. It is a lot of work and teaching to do. However, the positive part is that I have to come to school only when I have class, if I do not have classes, I can just go home, but the other side is I have to wait for Alan.

While I was waiting for Alan, I was preparing materials for my Spanish class. I have total of 18 topics for my students, including cultural issues, songs and basic Spanish conversation and vocabulary. I will make a book for them. This new book which will come out soon will be vocabulary, conversation and a few grammar point. At the end of each unit will be exercises for students to do it.

This is costs me a lot of work. I have to do many things. The materials that I did for last year, I could not find this year in my computer. I have a lot of problems with my computer lately. I do not know why, I just know that I have to do everything again.

I just hope that my students will know I do a lot of work and preparation for them. I also hope that my school will know it. After finishing this book, I will be ready for my Spanish class.

Father's Day Celebration!

In Taiwan, Father's day is in the August 8th. We celebrate father's day on this day. It is Wednesday, it is also raining day because Typhoon is cooming to Taiwan. A lot of restaurants are full. David came back earlier and I was preparing too cook, but Alan wanted to go out for dinner. He told me that he has money and he wanted to invite his father for dinner and he will pay for it. he is so cute and he is growing up child already.

We went to Matou to a Japanese restaurant. We had Japanese food. It is typical food like we are eating everyday. David and Alan are so glad to go out for dinner. We did not have family time together for a long time already.

Alan's Birthday

I woke up very early today to prepare everything for Alan's birthday celebration. I cut potatoes, carrots, onions, and chicken for curry rice. Also, I ordered 6 inches strawberry cake. Alan likes strawberry cake only. I went to 85 degrees (85度C) for cake. It is not cheap, but Alan likes, no matter how much I am spending, he likes to eat a cake it is okay.

I came back early from work to have everything ready for dinner. I drop Alan to his mental math and I went home right away. I have everything settled for dinner. When I was cooking, David came back home earlier to assemble the airplane for Alan. The airplane came out high and yellow.

After cooking, I went to have present ready for Alan, I bought him a comic book and a T-shirt for Alan. His father bought him a big yellow control airplane. David put all the airplane parts together.

I cannot believe times goes so fast, Alan is now 8 years old. He will be in the third grade now. I am getting old, this child is God's blessing for me. I am glad he is in my life.

Father's Day!

In Taiwan, Father's Day will be August 8th. This means it is comming next week (Wednesday). Alan and I are planning to invite David for dinner. We are going to have our dinner at Oceanpoli Resturant (格林童話). It is a buffet style, it will be good for Alan because he can eat what he likes to eat. I do not neeed to worry that he is not eating. I never been to that restaurant before. I will post things about that restaurant. We are going to have dinner at 6:00 P.M. We will see how's the food over there.

Alan, also is going to make a card for his father. He is going to ask his art teacher to teach him to make a good card. Before Father's Day it also is Alan's birthday. So, we decide to celebrate father's day earlier and have a cake for both Father's Day and Alan's birthday. I do not need to buy cake twice, we cannot even finish.

David's Birthday

August 6th is the lunar calendar for David's Birthday. We end up eating at the Oceanpolis. I wanted that place for father's day celebration, but David has to go to his cousin's house to fix their computer. We never been to Oceanpolis before. This is the first time for us to go there.

The food over there is good. It is cheaper and you can have all kinds of drinks and food you want. The bad thing is that all the food come out in a big plate. If they could shrink a little bit of each meal, I think that will be great.

Alan really like the dishes over there. He had so much fun. Also, David has fun over there. David is getting too old. Since he is getting too old, he really like to eat a lot. Good for him to have this kind of present from God.

We celebrate David's birthday. Alan said Happy Birthday to his father and David was almost crying. Alan never says thing like this before in his life to David. We had so mush fun eating!

Food at Shing-Kong Department

Alan and I like to go to Shing-Kong Department. We like to go and have lunch over there. Even the food inside of department store are expensive, but we use discount coupons for it. There's a new food store over there and they sale traditional food of I-Lan. Alan and I tried one time, and he really like it. He likes the noodle and the salty cake over there. I can say this place is the cheapest compared to other stores, of course the food is different.
