Personal reaction
When this movie came up, many people said this movie is a great movie. I did not grew up in Taiwan, so some of the histories behind the movie was so hard for me to understand. For example, Japanese ruled Taiwan for long time. from that part, I did not know what was happening in the history. Also, very traditional / local expessions in language were used in the movie.
Overall, the plot of the movie is very romantic. It can make people laugh or cry.
