A Day Before Chinese New Year!
Tomorrow will be Chinese New year. I thought there are a lot of people on the streets. But we went to the small market in a small town, people did their groceries already, so I did not find a lot of people as it should be. Some people because of work, they are doing their last minute shopping.
We could see a lot of sweets selling on the streets. Alan was looking for his favorite candy and cookies.
Also, the next side of the street, there's an old man who is writing lucky Chinese Phrases to welcoming the new year. Usually people put this phrases on their doors as part of decoration.
As you can see form this picture, each Chinese phrase is very long and you can tell the writer what to write.
The writer is usually use traditional Chinese pen and ink to write. Long time ago in the history of Taiwan, there's no pen, people use feather and ink to write.
Sometimes people will charge for letters. It can be from $50 NT dollars to $200 NT Dollars.
Also fruits is very important in Chinese new year. A lot of people buy pineapple. Pineapple is the main fruit in this season. Because people will think that pineapple will help people to keep their money or it is symbol of economy luck.
We are ready for Chinese new year. We did already groceries. I bought everything that my mother-in-law needs.
